Cocktail Hour

Are you wondering how long cocktail hour should be? Cocktail hour is the time after the ceremony and before the formal reception. We recommend that cocktail hour take place with enough time for guests to mingle, but not too much time to where guests are waiting for you to enter or for dinner to begin. 30-45 minutes is the recommended amount of time for the cocktail hour. This gives the bridal party time to take photos while allowing guests to visit amongst each other. We recommend hiring some type of entertainment to go on during this time (string quartet, band, DJ, mariachis).

Mason Jar Favors

Are you having a rustic wedding or event? If so, adding mason jars are a great way to tie the look together. Display the mason jars as favors for the guests. Set the mason jars on a table at the entrance of the reception. This way, guests can pick a glass up on the way into the party. We recommend creating a sign that lets guests know to keep the glass as a favor.

How To: Create Wine Bottle Centerpieces

Don't you love wine bottle centerpieces?! Here's how to make them yourself!

Step 1: Remove the label: you can either soak the bottles in hot, soapy water OR put the bottles in a 350 degree oven for about 10 minutes. Carefully remove from the oven and the labels should peel right off.

Step 2: Clean the bottle: to be sure all the sticky stuff aka "goo" is removed the bottle, simply rub a rag with Goo Gone over the surface to clean it up.

Step 3: Finishing Touch: Add your flower of choice to the bottle.

Grand Entrance

Trying to decide on whether or not to introduce your entire bridal party or just bride & groom for the grand entrance? Generally the grand entrance is done after the ceremony & cocktail hour, marking the beginning of the reception and celebration. The MC announces the bride and groom, along with the bridal party if you choose to do so. Grand entrances can be elegant or fun. In a past Real Wedding, the bride wanted to do something entertaining and fun. As the DJ/MC announced the bridal party, they came dancing in and passed out beaded necklaces to all the guests. This marked the tone for the rest of the celebration, truly a sight to see!

Masquerade Event

We recently planned and coordinated a Masquerade Quinceanera Event last weekend. The event took place at Sunset Station in San Antonio, TX. The quinceanera theme was Masquerade with shades of red, black, silver and gold. Masks laid at each place setting for the guests. As guests entered, they were treated like royalty getting photos taken on the red carpet. The red carpet pictures went on during cocktail hour as well and were taken by Christopher Hartman. The RK Group handled all rentals (tables, chairs, linens, red carpet items) and catering; their staff and services are incredible! The cake was created by Cake Art and was delicious. The music production was done by DJ 98 and guests danced all night. Throughout the event, photography was done by Raul's Photography
